Street Art: Blub #2

We first spotted Blub's street art shortly after arriving in Florence.  Since then, we have seen more and more.

Blub has been active in Florence and elsewhere for at least a couple of years.  Blub's identity seems to be a well kept secret.   Blub could be a person, multiple people or possibly a movement.  Perhaps time will tell us more.

Blub has a Facebook page about Blub's art.  The page is called "L'arte sa nuotare", or art can swim.  You can check it out here.

Here are some more Blub's in our travels around the city.  Enjoy.

Babbo Natale goes blub (Babbo Natale is Italy's version of Santa Claus)

The man from Galilee goes blub

Pablo Picasso goes blub

We especially liked the placement of Pablo Blub, next to the Arno river in Florence during near floor conditions

In Piazza Santa Croce, Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam goes blub.  This is a very large Blub, many times the size of the Blub's we usually spot on the covers of utility boxes.

Close up.  Note the blue globe is a soccer ball.  Also, Adam is wearing pants typically worn by players of the Florentine sport of Calcio Storico, or ancient football, a brutal version of soccer reenacted annually in Piazza Santa Croce.

Blub was commissioned to paint the Blue team of the Santa Croce quarter of Florence, the Azzurri.

More Blub to come.
