Where do you live in Paris #2

Where do we live in Paris?

We live in a part of Paris where we almost never hear aircraft flying overhead.  This part of Paris is noisy and we hear all sorts of noises: honking cars, revving motorcycles and scooters, rumbling buses, middle-of-the-night drunks, early morning garbage trucks and so on.  What we almost never hear are planes and helicopters passing by.

Thursday was an exception.  That day, the noise of jet airplanes passing by was unmistakable.  The noise from jet engines shook our building.  It was the rehearsal for tomorrow's military parade celebrating France's Fete Nationale, Juillet 14 (July 14), known as Bastille Day in the U.S.  The flyover of jets and helicopters is an important part of the parade.  So, the French air force was practicing for the event by flying all sorts of aircraft over our apartment building.

We are looking forward to the parade and plan on taking some photos and sharing them on the blog.

In the meantime, here are some photos from the rehearsal.  (The fighter jets were so incredibly fast that we couldn't snap any photos of them.)
