Cherry Blossoms in D.C. #4 (Part 1 of 2)

A friend recommended that we Artechouse, a new experience here in D.C.

Artechouse stands for Art + Tech + House.  It is an immersive experience of color, motion and sound.  When we visited recently, the theme was cherry blossoms, of course.

Upon arriving, we downloaded an app and then used our phones to take augmented reality photos.  Below is a logo on the entrance wall.

We pointed our phone camera at the logo and the image came alive with cherry blossoms.

Very cool. The same thing happened when we viewed the exhibition's title on the wall, Cherry Blossom Dream, Sakura Yume.  Petals slowly wafted down from the branches.

We entered a room with long, rectangular screens resting a foot above the floor. The screens were white, but when we moved our hands over a screen, swirling colors appeared and followed the movement of our hands.  Below are some photos of our "finger painting".

While waving our hands over one screen, it produced swirling black colors, while revealing pink and white butterflies.

In a corridor, we encountered a circular jumble of red balls projected on the wall.  The balls responded to hand motions.  Very cool.

In another room of the exhibit, we discovered a low table.  On it, images of a koi pond and bare cherry trees were projected.  While waving our hands over the fish, the koi followed the motion of our hands and bubbles appeared in the water.

The bare cherry trees blossomed in response to the motion of our hands.  Before and after photos appear below.

Next Up: The Cherry Blossom Dream continues.
