Films in D.C. #1

We love going to the movies.

Last night, we saw a preview of the new film Tomb Raider, opening tomorrow.

The film stars Swedish actress Alicia Vikander and is a reboot of the 2001 film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

When we arrived at the movie theater, we had to pass through security, which is out of the ordinary in D.C.  Two secret service-type dudes wanded us and then we found our seats.  Just before the film started, one of the dudes announced in a stern voice that all cell phones MUST be put away and no recording of the film was allowed.  The dude also said they had night-vision equipment and would be watching the audience during the screening.  We figured they were protecting against someone pirating the film with a handheld camera before the film was released.

We enjoyed the film.  It is a traditional action/adventure film with a very strong female lead.  The film reminded us of Raiders of the Lost Ark.  Unlike Raidersthere were no snakes., which made Susan very happy.
