Where do we live in D.C.?

We live near the 26.2 mile course of the 2018 Marine Corps Marathon.

Our building is located next to Rock Creek Parkway.  This past Sunday, the parkway was closed to traffic and become part of the marathon course.  While walking to Georgetown that morning, we stopped on a bridge over the parkway to cheer on the runners.

2018 Course

The Marine Corps Marathon is known as the "People's Marathon".  The only requirement to run is being at least 14 years old, paying an entrance fee and being daring enough to run for 26+ miles.  

Some of the runners were carrying banners or flags.  Below, two runners fly the United States Marine Corps flag (left, red) and the Stars and Stripes (right).

Other runners ran for a cause, while others wore costumes, like the runner below wearing a sort of tutu on her head.
