Museums in Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou #2 (Part 1 of 3)

Let's go back to the Pompidou to see more of the temporary Cubism exhibition.

We enjoyed the exhibition so much and it was so extensive that we wanted see it again before it closed.

Here we go.

Cubism was has several inspirations.  One was the innovative painting style of Paul Cézanne, which defied conventional perspective to allow the artist to show more of the subject.

Another inspiration was the art of peoples in Africa and elsewhere, especially masks like the ones pictured below.

With those inspirations in mind, we better appreciated the paintings of Picasso and Braque and the other Cubists featured in the exhibition.  Perhaps you too will see similarities with African masks and Cezanne's paintings.  Enjoy!

Next Up:  Even more Cubism!
