Piazza della Signoria

The Piazza della Signoria is one of the great squares in Florence. It is located in the center of the city and is situated inside the limits of the original Roman town. So, its history is long and deep--figuratively and literally.

Today, the square looks much like it did during the Renaissance (15th and 16th centuries), when the city wobbled between Republic and Monarchy.  Some of that history played out in the square.

We recently dined al fresco on the square.  It was wonderful dinner with a great and changing view as evening arrived.

Here are some photos taken from our table.
