While in Napes, we visited the famous Sansevero Chapel. We did not know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised when we saw the chapel. Both the chapel and the sculptures were a sight to behold. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed in the chapel. So, we purchased some postcards to help us share what we saw. Let's take a tour.

The principal attraction is a sculpture of Jesus after crucifixion (pictured below). What makes the sculpture unique and, in our opinion, amazing is that the figure appears to be covered by a thin cloth. The thin cloth is actually part of the marble sculpture.
Another statue in the chapel is similarly veiled.

The floor of the chapel is decorated with different colored marble. The different colors of marble are cut and arranged in a way to create the illusion of a three-dimensional labyrinth. It you like some of Escher's works, you would probably like the design on the chapel's floor.
If you visit Naples, you might consider walking up the hill to the old town to see the Sansevero Chapel.
