Opera is BIG in Italy. Florence is no exception. In fact, Florence claims to be the original home of opera with the 1598 production of the first opera.
Fast forward to 2016. Florence has a new opera house that hosts a full season of operas.
We recently purchased a package and attended the first production--Puccini's La bohème, a boy gets girl-loses girl-gets girl story set to music in 1830 Paris. The performance was excellent and the ending was moving.

Coming soon, Verdi's Nabucco (or Nebuchadnezzar in English).
