D.C. Pride Parade (Part 1 of 2)

Recently, D.C. hosted the 2018 Capital Pride Parade in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.  The event was organized by the Capital Pride Alliance.  The presenting sponsor was D.C.-based Marriott International.

The parade was a BIG deal.  There were many floats, hundreds and hundreds of marchers and nearly 250 organizations represented.  The parade lasted for hours and the atmosphere was very festive.

Many politicians showed their pride, including Eleanor Holmes Norton, D.C.'s non-voting representative in Congress.  The parade occurred shortly before the D.C. primary election.  So, a lot of candidates joined the parade.

Many local and national businesses proudly participated in the parade.

Giant Supermarket:

The Giant truck swerved from one side of the parade route to the other, seeming to come dangerously close to spectators.

All sorts of groups were proudly represented, including AgeProud early pioneers and rainbow families.

Some of the seniors rode the trolley.

A D.C.-based motorcycle club showed their pride and more.  According to the club's website: "Centaur Motorcycle Club (Centaur MC) has an enthusiastic interest in motorcycles, leather and men. There may also be consumption of adult beverages involved."

A Latino radio station showed its pride.

Several countries and their embassies in Washington were represented.

Canada:

Nordic Countries:  The 5 Nordic embassies banded together to show their collective pride.  (Can you quickly name all five countries?)  They even brought their Viking ship!
