A Day Out in London

London has much to offer.  Two categories are churches and theaters.

The other day, we visited a church in the Queens Gate neighborhood, St. Augustine’s Church.

Before arriving, we learned that the church is part of the Church of England.  So, when we entered, we were surprised.  We expected a sedate, austere interior.  On the contrary, the church was ornate and looked more like a Roman Catholic church.  The decoration throughout was lovely.  Because the church was built in the mid-1800’s, the interior is in excellent condition.  Check it out.

We also attended a service at the church and we felt very welcome.

On the same day, we attended the matinée of a musical in the West End.  The theater was unique, because it was narrow and tall.  As a result, the balcony was extremely steep.  We felt as if we might fall forward onto the people in front of us.

The musical—Get Up, Stand Up—was very good.  It told the story of international reggae star Bob Marley.  The musical made excellent use of most of Marley’s best songs.  The very best performance was the character Rita Marley singing No Woman, No Cry.  It was a showstopper.  Both of us really like Bob Marley’s music and, during the finale and encore, everyone stood, sang along and danced.

Thanks for joining us for a day out in London.
