Restrooms in Italy

In our travels around Italy, we sometimes need to use a restroom.  Most are average and not noteworthy.

Some, however, are blog-worthy.

So, in the spirit of sharing our everyday experiences here in Italy, below are a few photos.  Not to worry, nothing gross.

In the medieval town of San Gimignano, space in a centuries old building was converted into a modern restroom.

Below is a restroom sink with a combined faucet and hand drier.  Very cool.  Can it get any better?

Yes, it can get better.  Below is a restroom sink with a shelf that combines the faucet, soap dispenser and hand drier.  It's now even easier to have clean dry hands after a visit to the restroom.  Ingenious.

Another version of soap/water/air can be enjoyed at IKEA in Florence.  Who knew?

Another ingenious restroom feature was a unique urinal in a men's restroom.  The urinal, pictured below, is typical in its design except the water below grate is constantly flowing, like a babbling brook.  Probably, the sound of rushing water is soothing.

In a Florence hotel, the Hotel David, the lobby restrooms are decorated with vintage photographs.  Below is a photo of Brigitte Bardot getting out of a bathtub.  We supposed the photo is there to inspire cleanliness.

Thanks for letting us share our porcelain ponderings.
