Travels in Tuscany--San Gimignano (Part 1 of 3)

A recent day trip found us in San Gimignano, a small, ancient town in Tuscany known for its many towers, as pictured below.   .

Before arriving in San Gimignano, we had lunch at a farmhouse nearby.  The food and wine were produced by the farm and were delicious.

Entrance to Fattoria Poggio Alloro ("fattoria" means farm)

Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a typical white wine from the area and the pictured wine was made from grapes grown on the farm.

After a hearty and tasty lunch, we continued on to San Gimignano.

Next Up:  Touring the town.
