Ziplining in New York City?

Wouldn't it be cool if zip lines were installed all over Manhattan?  Just imagine being able to fly overhead from building to building.

Greg thought about installing a line from our building to the tram station at the end our block.  Not a long reach but it would be fun to zip over to the tram and travel on from there.

[In case anyone thinks Greg won't strap it on, check this out.]

Susan has a different and more practical plan in mind. Why not install a line from our building over to Bloomingdale's just across the street?  Not only would the short ride be thrilling, but it would also be rewarding because you could immediately go shopping at Bloomingdale's flagship store.  The landing at Bloomies should probably be on the fourth floor, where the designer shoe collection is located.

Lines could be added all over the city.  Some ideas include:
  • Zipping from the Empire State Building to the Chrysler Building, and back
  • Flying from one end of Times Square to the other (great fun on New Year's Eve)
  • Soaring between the towers of NYC's most famous bridges, including the Queensboro Bridge, of course
  • Zipping over the top of Central Park.  Perhaps over the Grizzly Bear enclosure at the Central Park Zoo.

. . . thrilling aerial view
Bear says:  "Hey, over here.  Just let go and I'll catch you."   Bear thinks:  Here comes lunch.  Yum!

The fearless flyers might even don costumes, such as Spider-Man, of course.  Or a tear-away Clark Kent outfit that reveals the Man of Steel in a red cape. Or a gorilla suit for the zipline to the Empire State Building.  Or the Amazing Donald, who probably thinks he can fly.  The hair blowing in the wind might be a problem.
"I need to start using more product!"
Obviously, this idea is the fanciful product of daydreaming.  Still, seeing this great city from the air is a good idea.  Plus, the views at night would be amazing.

P.S.  What about ziplining with a jet pack?  Thanks to Barry Robinson for that wild idea.  Only a Kiwi/Aussie would think that is a good idea.
