Year 5--Milestones

Greetings from San Francisco.

We are alive and well in the City by the Bay.  Today marks a few milestones that we mention in this blog post.

Today is a milestone, our halfway point in Year 5.  We eagerly began Year 5 on March 11 but then the pandemic arrived.  So, we have been sheltering in place, with nearly everything closed.

The blog has been on hiatus.  All of our usual activities have been unavailable and still are.  No museums, theaters, historical sites, volunteer opportunities, sporting events, restaurants, etc.  As a result, our activities have been limited (long walks, visiting the grocery and pharmacy, reading in parks).  Those limited activities are not really blog-worthy.  So, we have refrained from blogging.

The hiatus ends today.  Although you will not see activities and adventures like those during Years 1-4, we will share scenes from our daily life in quarantine.

This month marks another milestone.  It has been five years since we both retired and began The 10 Year Plan.  While we miss our colleagues and friends, we would not trade The 10 Year Plan for more years of working.  We are very thankful that we were able to retire.

Today is also another milestone, the anniversary of 9/11.  During a recent long walk, we strolled around the nearby baseball stadium, Oracle Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants.  In front of the park, we spotted a temporary memorial to the 9/11 victims.  We fondly remember our friend Matt Leonard who worked at the World Trade Center.

A tribute to 9/11 shows through the fog.

Next Up:  Coming soon, more photos of daily quarantine life in San Francisco.
