Yesterday, the Blessing of the Animals occurred at the church we attend in Georgetown. The event is an annual tradition that occurs near October 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals.
The Blessing of the Animals
Grace celebrates St. Francis Day this Sunday, October 7th,
with the Blessing of the Animals (including the stuffed variety) on the terrace.
All God’s creatures are also welcome in the church for the service,
but leashes and carriers are required for everyone’s peace of mind.
Dogs of all sorts were well represented at the event.

One feline friend made a cautious appearance.
Stuffed animals were also blessed.
P.S. The photo below reminds Greg of the New Yorker cartoon mentioned in this blog a while ago.
