Transportation in Italy #2

Last time, we looked at some small work vehicles.

This time, it's small cars.  While there are some large vehicles rolling around Florence, the great majority are on the small end of the spectrum.  Purchase price, operating cost and parking all favor the compact car.

We have seen a great variety of small cars--from compact 4-seaters to single seaters.  Here are a few photos.

Before JLo touted the modern Fiat 500, there was the Fiat Nuova 500 (New 500).  New in this case refers to new in 1957. The model lasted for decades and there are still many in operation.

A Fiat Nuova 500 in excellent condition.  Very tight if you need to transport 4 large persons.

An electric 2-seater.  Great for running around town but not so good for camping with the kids.

Are these very small cars the future in the U.S.?  Possibly.  However, tiny cars sharing the road with large vehicles seems a bit dangerous when you consider relative size and mass.
