The 10 Year Plan Continues: Year 2 in Florence, Italy

Welcome back.

Today is a special day for us.  Today, Columbus Day is observed in the U.S.  That's not the reason this day is special for us.

Today, we arrived in Florence, Italy to begin Year 2 of the 10 Year Plan.

The trip was a bit grueling and we are recovering.  The trip's start actually in doubt due to Hurricane Matthew.  Unfortunately, our planned flight was cancelled but we found another flight out of Florida and made it to Europe without difficulty, arriving in Florence this morning.

We have rented a nice apartment in a neighborhood of Florence away from the tourist madness.  We don't have a room with a view of the cathedral or other Florentine landmark.  However, we do have a lovely view of nearby hilltown Fiesole, a former Etruscan town.  Check out the photos below.

Thanks for joining us on our adventure.  We appreciate your taking time to read this blog.  We apologize for the long hiatus since ending Year 1 in New York.  The hiatus is over.  Let the adventure continue.  Hoo-wah.

P.S.  Today, we looked for but did not find any signs of Columbus Day celebrations here in Florence.  Columbus was Italian.  Wasn't he?  No matter.  Italians already have enough excuses (and guaranteed vacation time) to celebrate 24/7/365.
