It's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon (Part 1 of 2)

NOT.

It's hard to imagine a quiet week in New York City.  No matter what your interests might be, there is usually something worthwhile to see or do.

Since returning to the Big Apple, we have been busy.  Here is a partial list of what we have been up to:

Dheepan, a recent film about immigrants who flee one war zone but land in another war zone in suburban Paris.  (The moral of the story:  Nobody messes with Dheepan.)

Lunch with out-of town friends at French bistro Marseille in Hell's Kitchen.

MoMA, a drive-by viewing allowed us to see a new exhibition about art during the 60's titled  From the Collection:  1960-1969.  MoMA announced recently a new approach to exhibiting its collection.  Instead of focusing only on one artist and one artistic form (e.g., sculpture by Picasso), MoMA will exhibit the work of many artists in different forms with a theme anchoring the art.  The exhibition about art during the 1960's fits that mold.  Greg's older brother Mike would enjoy seeing the exhibition and reliving his teenage years.

Blackbird, a wonderfully-acted, provocative play with Michelle William and Jeff "Harry" Daniels.  Harry might be Dumb but he is quite the stage actor, as is Michelle Williams.

Hero's Welcome, a funny new play by Alan Ayckbourn that proves you can go home again but not without consequences.

The Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit.  University Place was lined from 13th Street down to Washington Square with artists of all sorts.  Much of the art was good and some was very good.
Below are some images depicting our week.

More to come in Part 2 tomorrow.

Album art on exhibition in From the Collection:  1960-1969, MoMA (May 2016).  If you look closely, you will see many recognizable names of bands and performers.
