"Where do you live in New York?" (Part 1)

When we tell people about the 10 year plan, surprise and disbelief are the initial reaction, followed by questions.  Lots of understandable questions.

A question we are often asked is "where do you live in New York?"

We initially thought that question would be easy to answer.  Wrong.  Depending on who is asking, the answer is different.  No, we are not trying to hide from anyone, such as in-laws, creditors, the tax man.  The answer just depends on someone's particular knowledge and point of view.

So, in no particular order, here are some of the answers to the question
"where do you live in New York?"

Answer for a person living outside the U.S.
New York City, a/k/a the Big Apple, Gotham, and the City that Never Sleeps.

For someone familiar with NYC.
On the East Side.

For someone experienced in retail therapy.
Across from Bloomingdale's.
The Third Avenue side of Bloomingdale's, viewed from our building.  Wait!  Is that Susan going in the entrance?
For someone who loves watching DIY home renovation shows.
Near Home Depot.  Yes, there is a Home Depot in Manhattan.

In fact, there are two.  We live across from the East Side location.  It is a very large store, with multiple floors mostly underground.  It was built under both the Bloomberg Building and the iconic Le Cirque restaurant.  If you favor Lowe's, you are in luck.  Lowe's has a store not far away on the Upper West Side. (P.S.  We dine at Le Cirque two or three times a week.  If you believe that, would you be interested in buying a bridge?)

More answers to come.
