Out of the Ordinary

During our time in Paris, we have seen many out of the ordinary things.  

A while, ago, while visiting the Louvre museum, we spotted the ornately decorated item pictured below.  What do you think it is?

To give you a hint, here is the same item pictured in a royal bedroom.  (The curtain of the royal bed can be seen at the left edge of the photo.)

Did you figure out what it was?  Greg thinks it is a 17th-century "Squatty Potty".  Who knew?

Another out of the ordinary thing is the outdoor sculpture in the Jardin des Tuileries pictured below.  The sculpture is bronze and depicts bamboo poles supporting two chairs facing opposite directions.
