Museums: Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden #5

The Hirshhorn hosted earlier this year a temporary exhibition dedicated to 1980's contemporary art.

Below is a summary of the exibition, together with an introductory video and some photos.

From Hirshhorn.si.edu:  Brand New: Art and Commodity in the 1980s:  "It’s the 80s as you’ve never seen it before.  Explore the iconic decade when artwork became a commodity and the artist, a brand. Razor-sharp, witty, satirical and deeply subversive, these nearly 150 works examine the origins and rise of a new generation of artists in 1980s New York who blurred the lines between art, entertainment and commerce, a shift that continues to define contemporary art today."

Greg especially liked the exhibition because part of the exhibition seemed to be all about Susan.

Thanks for visiting the Hirshhorn with us.  And please remember:  It's always Susan never Susie.

P.S.  Also earlier this year, Dolcezza opened a coffee bar in the lobby of the Hirshhorn.  Below, check out the artistic design.
