Monuments: Kennedy Center #2

A while back, we toured the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, which opened in 1971, after nearly seven years of construction.  

The tour was extensive and informative.  We visited most of the theaters, including the three large theaters and some of the small ones.  There are a total of  7 theaters in the Kennedy Center, plus several other spaces for performances.  

Plus, we viewed a lot of the Kennedy Center's art work and decoration.  Much of the art and decoration were gifts from other countries.  For example, the Kennedy Center is clad outside and inside with hundreds of thin sheets of Carrara marble from Tuscany, a gift from Italy.  The Orrefors crystal chandeliers in the grand foyer are a gift from Sweden.
