Apparently, Italians love kissing, especially Italians in Bologna. Their signage proves it.
Recently, while passing through the Bologna airport, we noticed a sign outside the terminal:
Like the "Kiss & Ride" sign we noticed previously at the Bologna train station, the "Kiss & Fly" sign is in English, not Italian. We guess that many Italians know a few important English words.
Of course, Italians don't need to be reminded to kiss a loved one when parting for a journey. After all, kissing is deeply ingrained in Italian culture, like pasta and opera. Perhaps that's one reason why writer Nora Ephron said: The "secret to life, marry an Italian."
