While skimming a NYC guide book, a self-evident truth became evident. In NYC, it is always wise to know where to find a nearby clean, accessible restroom. It is not life-changing knowledge but it is important knowledge when the need arises.
The guide book offered a suggestion about one of the finest lounges in the entire city: the Ladies Lounge on the fourth floor of Bloomingdale's flagship store at 59th Street and Third Avenue. If you recall from an earlier post about where we live in NYC, you know that we live across the street from the Bloomingdale's flagship store.

Curious about the noteworthy Ladies Lounge on 4, we ventured across Third Avenue, braved the many fragrance-spraying girls and boys on the main floor and took the elevator to the fourth floor. You might already know that the fourth floor is dedicated to luxury offerings from famous designers. We looked around and eventually discovered the out-of-the-way Ladies Lounge.
Susan ventured in alone. A while later, Susan emerged wide-eyed. She was smiling and speechless. After gathering herself and recovering her vocal abilities, Susan shared what she saw. Apparently, the Ladies Lounge is a lovely oasis of marble, chrome, mirrors and chairs, with a congenial attendant. Decorum cautioned against photography. So, the pictures below are borrowed.
And remember, whenever the need arises and you find yourself near 59th Street and Third Avenue, head for the fourth floor Ladies Lounge at Bloomies. A warning to the gents--there is no lounge for gentlemen.
P.S. Earlier the same day, while returning a blouse to H&M near Bloomingdale's, Susan overheard a clerk answering another shopper's question: "I am sorry. No, we don't have a public restroom here. This isn't Bloomingdale's."
