New York is a great town for sports.
One fabled institution is the New York Yankees. Last week, we attended the 2016 home opener at New Yankee Stadium. As you can see from the pictures below, our vantage was from high in the Grandstand on the first base side. The weather was quite cold with gusting winds. If you know Yankee Stadium, you know that means the conditions were polar-esque. The "feels like" temperature was about 25°. Greg thinks he was colder at the game than he was when he took the Polar Plunge on January 1.
Of course, there is no crying in baseball. We grinned and bore it with a quivering upper lip. In fact, we were very happy to watch a Major League home opener, our first ever. After 6 months without regular season baseball, we closely watched every pitch and swing.
P.S. Opening day was actually postponed from April 4 to April 5 due to a rainout. The rain was light, not heavy. Is there crying in baseball, after all? We bet the Mets would have played a home opener despite a little rain.

DH A-Rod at the plate, looking to improve on his 2015 .842 OPS. During one at bat, he walked and then stole second base. Not bad for a 40 year old. |
