Museums in Paris: Musée Maillol (Part 2 of 2)

Our visit to the Musée Maillol continues.

As you might guess, the museum is dedicated to the art of Arisitide Maillol (1861-1944).  Maillol had a varied artistic career:  from tapestries and wood carvings to paintings and sculpture, for which he is best known.  (You can read more about Maillol's life by clicking here.)

Let's tour the collection.

We renamed the next painting Whistler's Mother #2.

Dina by Aristide Malliol (1937) (terracotta).  Dina Vierny was Maillol's young muse, model and frequent companion.

Maillol's work is not confined to museums.  Several of his bronzes are displayed in the garden of the Louvre.  Because we live close by, we walk by and admire them frequently.

Below, Marie-Chantal poses with one of the sculptures.

Thanks for visiting the Musée Maillol with us.

P.S.  During a visit to the Petit Palais later in time, we spotted another Malliol sculpture.
