Museums in Paris: Centre Georges Pompidou #2 (Part 2 of 3)

Our return visit to the Pompidou continues with more Cubist works of art.

You might remember that we saw the absinthe glasses (above) at the Picasso sculpture exhibition during Year 1 in NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art.  It's a small world after all.

One painting we especially liked is pictured below.  The blend of color, abstraction, representation and geometric shapes make for an intriguing scene of dance and romance.

The exhibition featured an amusing short silent film from the era of Cubism.  A wealthy collector visits the studio of a Cubist artist to have his portrait painted.  The artist wears Cubist clothing with geometric shapes embedding in his jacket and hat.  In the matter of a few seconds, the artist produced a Cubist portrait that closely resembles the subject, who seems pleased with the painting.

Next Up:  More geometric shapes from a later time period.
