Escape to the Country

Since the pandemic began, we have watched a lot of home buying and renovation shows on television. One of our favorites is an English program called Escape to the Country.  The show features couples looking for a home in the English countryside.  One region that is often featured is Yorkshire, with its picturesque rolling countryside and gray stone cottages.

Today, we escaped to the country.  We enjoyed a day long guided tour with visits to the Brontë sisters’ home,  the Bingley 5 rise locks, Linton Falls and Bolton Abbey.  Along the way, we traveled through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and saw many dales (Norse for valley) and lots of grazing sheep and cattle.

Here is a photographic review of our escape to the country.

• The Brontë Home

• The Bingley 5-Rise Locks

• Linton Falls

• Bolton Abbey is a 12th century abbey that was suppressed by Henry VIII in the 16th century.

Thanks for escaping to the country with us.
