Tea at the Ritz

A nice way to celebrate an important event is Tea at the Ritz.

Fortunately, the Ritz is located nearby.  A while ago, we visited to celebrate Susan's anniversaire (birthday).  It was a milestone.

Tea at the Ritz is served by reservation only in the elegant Salon Proust, named for the Parisian author who was a frequent visitor of the Ritz since the day it opened in 1898.

The Salon Proust
Marcel Proust

Instead of English tea with lady fingers (or cucumber sandwiches), we enjoyed thé à la française and savored delicious petits fours d'antan, French pastries of yesteryear, prepared by François Perret, the celebrated head pastry chef of the Ritz.  The pastries were out of this world, the service was perfect and the relaxed ambience was divine.  Time seemed to stop.  As Proust said, "At the Ritz, no one rushes you."

While the Salon Proust was elegant, it was not the only elegant location in the Ritz.  The toilette was decorated like a palace.  Even the faucets were extraordinary.  Check it out.

The pastries were plentiful.  So, we did not leave empty-handed.

We also departed with a gift--a tin of tea for sipping with our plentiful pastries.

Thank you for sharing tea at the Ritz with us.
