Churches in Paris: L'église Saint-Ambroise

L'église Saint-Ambroise, located in the 11th arrondissement, is a church dedicated to 4th-century century priest Saint Ambroise.   In the Roman Catholic tradition, Ambroise is one of the four Doctors of the Church.  Ambrose was learned and a skilled orator, and he is credited with converting another Doctor of the Church, St. Augustine.

We discovered L'église Saint-Ambroise while strolling through the 11th.  The church was completed in 1868 and replaced earlier churches that were on the same site.  Its architectural style is a mix of Neo-Gothic, Neo-Classical and Neo-Byzantine features.  Despite the mix, the church is lovely.

Below is a photographic tour of L'église Saint-Ambroise.

We especially liked the three rose windows of the church, which represent the Trinity.  Below, in order--the father, son and holy spirit.

Thanks for visiting L'église Saint-Ambroise with us.
