Public Art in Paris #4

Paris is a city filled with art.  Much of it is located indoors.  Some is located in outdoor public places--in parks, squares and courtyards.  Here is a sampling of statues spotted during our ambling around Paris.

Located in a small park behind the Louvre

Next to the Seine near the Pont de Alma
Le Monument de la reconnaissance de la Belgique à la France by Isidore de Rudder (1923) (near the Pont de Alma)

On the Left Bank near the Musée d'Orsay
Because public art is located outdoors, it requires special attention, due to weather, vandals, etc.  Recently, we spotted a bronze statue in the Jardin de Tuileries receiving some special attention.  Conservators were using a torch to heat the surface of the sculpture and then brush on a coating.  Jean-Claude wondered if the process was somewhat like waxing.

Standing Woman by Gaston Lachaise (1932)
The result:  That is one shiny backside.

Thanks for viewing more public art with us.
