Springtime in Paris #11

The hiatus has ended.

We are in Paris enjoying more of Year 4 of the 10 Year Plan.  We hope you will enjoy it with us.

It is still Springtime in Paris.  Recently, we strolled in nearby parks and enjoyed more seasonal flowers.  Roses are now prevalent, but fabulous peonies are really stealing the show.

During one stroll, we noticed that many citrus trees had been placed in the Jardin des Tuileries along main walkway (la grand allée), just as they were placed during past centuriesThe trees sit in "Le Notre" boxes, named for André Le Nôtre (1613-1700), Louis XIV's principal gardener and one of the chief architects of the Jardin des Tuileries.  Le Nôtre designed planters that were portable (the citrus trees were stored in the heated Orangerie during winter) and that had doors on the side that could be opened to change the dirt in the planter.

P.S.  The real reason for the photo above is Marie-Chantal showing off her new Adidas shoes, which are very much in style in Paris.  (Only 35 euro!  Such a deal.)
