Museums in Paris: Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris (Part 2 of 3)

Our visit to Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris continues.

The permanent collection includes a group of women's dresses that were inspired by fashions of the past.  Yves Saint Laurent became a fashion historian and created new fashions based on fashions in history.

Two dresses were especially interesting.  Below, the 18th century dress appears in the painting on the left, while the modern adaptation appears during a fashion show on the right.  The next photograph shows the same modern adaptation in the museum.

The other especially interesting dress is based on a Botticelli painting, Madonna and Child.  The modern version of the dress is actually a wedding dress.

Next Up:  Let's visit the Saint Laurent's design studio.
