Summer in D.C.

D.C. is known for its hot, steamy summers.

D.C. (much like Florence, Italy) sits at the bottom of a bowl with hills around the city.  So, hot summer air, laden with moisture, is trapped and keeps the city hot and steamy.

Also during the summer, rain and thunderstorms arrive to drench the city.  In fact, July this year was one of the rainiest July's on record.  It was the wettest since 1945.

Of course, this lament sounds like pointless whining. It is not. With excessive heat, humidity and rain, sometimes there's a bright spot and you can see a rainbow.

The other day, from our terrace, we spotted a rainbow after a storm.  Check it out.

Does it get any better?  Sometimes, it does.  We spotted a double rainbow.

Wherever you are in the world, we wish you good weather and the occasional double rainbow.
