The National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. is a celebration of Spring's arrival and the return of the cherry blossoms after a cold, bleak winter. The festival runs for four weeks and includes many events all over D.C.
We attended one event in the atrium of the East Building of the National Gallery of Art. The event featured a traditional drum and dance troupe from Japan. The group is made up of Japanese students who are chosen to demonstrate their cultural heritage on this special U.S. tour.
Below are some photos and videos of the talented performers.
We hope you enjoyed the performance as much as we did.
P.S. As we left the museum, we spotted some beautiful cherry blossoms. A happy coincidence.
