Churches: Santa Maria del Carmine (Part 3 of 3)

The church of Santa Maria del Carmine is a lovely Baroque-style church.

Previously, we visited the famous Brancacci Chapel attached to the church and viewed the frescoes there.  The church itself was closed at the time, although we peeked into it.

We recently returned to the church when it was open for services.  After seeing the rough, unadorned exterior, we were amazed to see the interior's ornate Baroque architectural features and the beautifully painted ceiling.

The most amazing feature was the decorative painting that simulated 3-dimensional objects, such as marble arches near the ceiling.

Below are a few photos from our return visit.

Our return visit was a happy occurrence.
