During our travels in Italy, we have assembled a small collection of nativity scenes. The collection is small in number and in size. In Italian, a nativity scene is called a presepe di natale.
Apparently, Italians adore presepe. Wherever we have gone this time of year, we have seen many presepe, from life-sized displays to tiny ones for sale, and everything in between. All made in Italy.
It turns out that Susan must be part Italian. She too adores presepe. So much so that it is hard to walk by a shop or outdoor booth without stopping to look if not purchase.
Our collection is pictured below. Enjoy.
In addition to collecting presepe, the small artisanal decoration came home with us recently. We like it because it reminds us of Charlie Brown's tree.
Lastly, advent calendars of all types abound in Florence. The type below is without chocolate. What's that about?
Next Up: Some large nativity scenes.
